Community engagement screening:
• Our team consists of a team of scientists, staff, and students
• The age group for screening is 18 and over, most organization start screening at the age of 40 depending on the risk factor.
• The PSA (prostate specific antigen) which is a protein used in a “blood test” to screen for prostate cancer. One blood draw only
• Men who participate will receive their results in letter form via US Postal Service. If the results are out of normal range, they will receive a call from our registered nurse plus the letter. The screening isn’t use for diagnosing prostate cancer. Elevated numbers at that time may not mean you have prostate cancer. They must follow up with their Primary Care Physician for further testing or repeat PSA.
• We usually require an estimated number of men expected to attend the event/meeting for logistical purposes.
