It's Filling Up

4th of July

For the last 30 years The Rotary Club of Newnan in conjunction with the City and County have hosted the annual fireworks celebration. This year is no different. We have over 2000 community members who attend this annual event. We do not make money off of this event, we provide free activities for families and all monies raised are used to produce the event.

Giving Grants

Annual Grant Awards

The Rotary Club of Newnan hosts an annual grant season. Typically, we award $10,000 in grants to local nonprofit agencies. However, this year we were able to award $20,000 due to the generosity of a movie production company who donated an additional $10,000 to support our community after filming here. We were able to award grants to 17 different nonprofit agencies.

Socializing

Communities In Schools and Christmas Social

The Rotary Club of Newnan has several fun socials, but our Christmas social is typically the one that leaves lasting impressions. This one was no different. We invited a couple of our Communities In Schools (now Elevate Coweta Students) Students to enjoy the evening with us, but what made it more special was that we were able to present them with Christmas Gifts that they wouldn't have been able to receive from their families. These young ladies are A students who have family situations that may be a little tough. They were able to attend their first "fancy" event, have fun and interact with positive role models in a great environment. This was also the celebration of our 95th anniversary!

Community Resource Guide

Each year our family collaborative creates and distributes a resource guide that is used in our local DFACS office, our food pantries, free clinics and other offices where those individuals who need certain types of assistance might be. This year, the Rotary Club of Newnan was one of the sponsors of this guide that helps the citizens of our community.

Building Blocks

LEAP for Literacy

This project is in collaboration with a local elementary school that has the lowest socioecnonomic status in our community. These children need extra help with certain areas to succeed - this program helps to provide additional STEM, art and hands on life skills. We used our District Grant Funds to assist with this program. The kids read a book and then use the outdoor walls to paint what they learned in the books. They can also utilize the outdoor blocks to build and construct things that the learn in the books as well.
